Quality Levels of quality Telling us about your expectations regarding quality is very important. The level of quality that is required increases or decreases the price of the translation. Two basic levels of quality are considered: For information purposes For publication purposes Confidentiality Confidentiality = Trust = Ethical Business We know that your documents can be highly sensitive. Special care should be taken to ensure their confidentiality..Every translator, editor, and project manager signs a confidentiality agreement. Project-specific confidentiality agreements can also be submitted upon customer's request. 1/ Translations for information purposes This first quality level and also the most common one, is the translation of a document for information purposes. This is the quality level offered by most translation companies or freelance translators. At this level, your text will be translated faithfully, it will read well, and it will be formatted following the guidelines of the original document (although complex formatting can sometimes require additional fees). Stylistic variations and minor typographical or grammatical mistakes are allowed. This level of quality is appropriate for contracts, specifications, correspondence, etc. 2/ Translation for publication purposes The second level of quality is used for documents that will be published and widely read. This level is required for books, journal articles, brochures, and advertising. Multiple proofreading reviews are needed to achieve impeccable language, free of typographical or grammatical errors. The cost for each level is different, simply because producing a document for publication requires extensive professional proofreading and copy-editing. If not otherwise specified, the “translation for information purposes” will be considered.
